Hi!

My name is Simon and on a daily basis I have been the co-carer of the dog Norek for several years.

Norek is a dog who came to us from Fingerlings. It was not easy at the beginning, as it turned out that Norek is very reactive towards children and brachycephalic dogs.

In addition, he reacts very strongly with fear to horses and other very large animals.

But lest it be just about ‘problems’, I must honestly admit that Norek is a sensational tracking dog (we trained tracking regularly for about a year and a half). We also tried other sports with Norek, including agility and nosework 😉

Anyway, the activities we tried with Norek are hard to count 🙂

Due to his reactivity problems, Norek motivated us to study thoroughly with many behaviourists and dog trainers, on courses and away camps.

Additionally, we started to educate ourselves by reading a lot (including books not available in Poland).

A little trivia about me: as part of my quest for new, out-of-the-box knowledge, in December 2023 I attended a month-long course with Kim and Shaun Ellis from the UK on their proprietary method of working with dogs: The Hemene Approach. It is a method based on developing and deepening relationships with dogs based on their individual characters. P.S. Yes, Shaun Ellis is the guy who lived with the wolves for a year as a member of their pack 🙂

So there’s no end to the science of dogs… 🙂

——————————-

These few intensive years of learning about dogs have taught me that the most important thing is an approach to dogs based on building a long-term relationship with the dog.

I am against the use of training methods that can harm the physical or mental health of the dog!

My strengths

Passion for animals and understanding of their needs

My passion for dogs makes me an ideal candidate for a Guardian. The dog under my care will feel very comfortable. I will not, for example, touch him or look at him unnecessarily.

Additionally, I am still developing and learning how to help different dogs.

Experience in caring for reactive dogs

I have experience of caring for reactive dogs, I know their needs and can respond appropriately in different situations.

Patience and calmness

It may sound trivial, but caring for a dog requires patience and the ability to remain calm, even in difficult situations. My ability to remain calm and problem-solve is crucial to keeping my dog safe and stable.

Adaptation to the needs of the dog

Every dog is different and requires an individual approach. My flexibility and willingness to adapt to each dog’s unique needs, make me an exceptional carer.

Responsibility and trust

I am a responsible and trustworthy person. As a dog owner you can be sure that your pet is in good hands. In addition, you can contact me at any time to enquire about your pet.

Activity and commitment

Dogs require regular physical and mental activity. I believe that my commitment to staying active and having fun with my dog will benefit his wellbeing and health.

I validated my skills and knowledge of animal care by completing the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE) course with an A+ (excellent) grade

COAPE Poland is an accredited branch of the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology, the UK’s largest training organisation for animal behaviourists.
